GO ranks are one of the biggest badges of honor for dedicated competitive players. But despite the intense focus on these little badges as status symbols, Valve hasn’t been too transparent about how ranks are subdivided, or what causes a player to rank up or down. To help you understand this system better, we’ve collected the best-available information from Valve and a variety of other sources.
GO ranks work To earn your initial rank, you’ll have to win 10 placement matches, at a limit of two per day. Note that an unranked player will be unable to queue with anyone of rank Master Guardian 2 or higher, unless queuing with a full team of five. Based on successes and failures, your rank will be adjusted at the end of each match, assigning you a higher or lower Skill Group if necessary.

Games are typically extremely close in MMR, or at the most around difference. I don’t mind “walls of text” but I do mind when your basic presumption is wrong, like this one above. You are starting everything on this MMR value which has little to no meaning. The MMR of the same player can vary tremendously just from the hero picks during the calibration stage due to idiotic calibration criteria as “DMG dealt to heroes”.
Or he could have an “accurate” estimation of his skill for playing solo mid carry, which could vary tremendously from his 3 lane support play. Also, you don’t make a difference between game impact and influence at the end result of a carry and support. Also, you are using too much of this Oesile said: Like its not a team game or something. You are neglecting the performance of others, both in your and opponents team. Or the fact that MMR equation is missing “matches played” factor, equaling player who plays 1 match a day and player who plays 7 matches a day.

Ranked mode is intended for the most competitive and focused members of the Minimum community. Ranked matchmaking takes your own skill as well as your teammates into account when matching Titan Mode games in order to create the most even and challenging match possible.
The matchmaking system to date has been very unreliable and frustrating to the player base. Team compositions have been all over the board from landslide victories to unreasonable team builds. Minor changes have been made to group party size restrictions and Hero stats adjustments. Complaints have ranged from unfair team composition to extended wait times. As a result, Blizzard announced their Phase 1 Match Making overhaul. Below is the information Blizzard has released and comments regarding the changes.
However, Heroes is team-based, and we had to create several rules, such as team composition and party size restrictions, to help tailor this system to a 5v5 game. The more rules that we added, the more difficult it became for the matchmaker to put together high-quality games. At BlizzCon, we spoke about our plan to refactor the Heroes of the Storm matchmaker by the end of the year, and discussed many of the changes this would include. Understandably, Blizzard had to start some.
They took the Star Citizen Matchmaker system for what it was worth and have now made changes to accommodate the rumblings heard from the community. We emerged with a much better understanding about why the system was underperforming in some areas, and what improvements we needed to make. We then set about making changes, with our primary focus set squarely on creating a new system that will consistently provide you with evenly matched games, in which both teams have an equal chance to win.

I feel like the new abilities are fun to use, but because of that, mana drains a lot faster too. She’s always kinda used a lot of mana, but I feel like it’s a bit worse now somehow, did mana costs change? Yes, experience increases skill. But it is not the ONLY thing which increases skill, or else players with few games would have never been placed at your Elo. Basically you’re saying that players aren’t allowed to be good until they’ve played Ranked games. Anyways, as far as I can tell your gripe is with the Placement system; if these players you faced were really at your Elo but so much worse than you, but didn’t have more than 30 games, then that means they were placed within a divison or two of you to begin with, and obviously don’t belong there.
That’s where the suggestion to start everybody at Bronze V comes in:
